Straight to the goal!
This is day 3 and things just get better and better. Do you know “Layla” means dark beauty? And she is. What a lovely girl. What a Velcro dog. Thanks so much, as always, for your wonderful help and for being there.
Sooner Golden Retriever Rescue is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) tax exempt, all-volunteer organization established for the purposes of placing homeless Golden Retrievers in good homes and educating the public about Golden Retrievers and their needs. We think every Golden Retriever deserves the opportunity to have a safe home with a loving family. That’s why we’re here.
All services performed by SGRR are funded exclusively through the generous donations of the membership and friends of the Rescue and by fundraising projects organized and conducted by Rescue members. SGRR is an all-volunteer organization and as such has no paid staff. All donations are used to provide direct support of the Goldens in our care. SGRR is an approved charitable organization of the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC # 63193) so federal employees may chose to support SGRR by payroll deduction through their employer. Along with receiving cash contributions, Donate Here, SGRR has also enlisted the aid of veterinarians and other companion animal service providers across the state to provide discounted services in support of our mission. SGRR was formed in 1986 by members of the local Golden Retriever Club and other interested persons. The Rescue was founded to address an increasing problem of homeless Golden Retrievers in the central Oklahoma area. Most of the original Rescue members had experienced the joys and frustrations of finding homes for stray dogs. This, combined with their affection and admiration for Golden Retrievers, made the progression from the idea of a rescue group to the reality of SGRR and easy one.
At the heart of SGRR is our group of dedicated, hard-working volunteers. These volunteers are supported by our always generous paid membership of more than 200 individuals and families with an extended group of more than 1200 interested contacts on our outreach lists. Each member brings their own special skills and talents enabling the Rescue to provide a wide range of services.
Services rendered by the group include providing medical care, temperament evaluation, temporary foster homes, transportation of Goldens, checking local animal shelters, assisting in finding lost Goldens, placing Goldens in qualified adoptive homes, and public relations. SGRR has rescued and rehomed nearly 3000 Goldens since 1986.
Our rescue and adoption activities help Golden Retrievers throughout the state of Oklahoma. We do not adopt outside the state of Oklahoma except in some nearby border areas where we have established an active volunteer base. Potential adopters from other states can get information about Golden rescues in their area at the Golden Retriever Club of America – National Rescue Committee’s website: www.grca-nrc.org.

Hi SGRR! Hope all is well. Just wanted to give you an update, Percy is doing great. We have been going on daily walks and he started doggie day care once a week. He loved it! Hope everyone at SGRR has a great holiday season! Here’s a photo of Percy!
We sometimes underestimate our furry kids – Harper has been really good for old Miss Anti-social. I think they enjoy one another — shall we even say love. What blessing our dogs are to us. Thank you!
